ASA Swim Lessons!
Introduction
The Sessions
ASA Swim Stages
It is a proven fact that 'children learn through play and
repetition'. With this in mind, all skills and strokes are developed
into good habits by repeating good practices. The children work hard
in the lesson but we always end the lesson with a structured game or
play... so, the children think they've had fun even though they have
worked hard.
At The Sheffield Swim School, we follow the
Amateur Swimming
Association - National Plan for Teaching Swimming Badge Scheme = ASA
NPTS.
The
ASA are the governing body for the sport of swimming, diving,
water polo & synchronised swimming. The NPTS was revised in 2008 to
ensure a focus on teaching core skills before teaching the
complicated strokes... So, skills like flotation, submersion,
entries/exits, streamlining & rotation are developed early on as
they all transfer nicely into creating swimmers with nice strokes -
gone are the days of teaching head-up breast stroke and
nothing else!
