ASA Swim Stages!
Introduction
The Sessions
ASA Swim
Stages
The core stages of the mainstream lesson programme start at stage 1
and progress to stage 7. Stage 1 works towards total submersion,
following pool rules, floating with aids, push and glides with aids,
moving forwards/backwards/sideways with feet on or off pool bottom.
The stages are progressive in nature, so that the requirement for
stage 7 is to attain 4 near perfect strokes.
Stages 8, 9 & 10 then develop swimmers for the sports of competitive
swimming, diving, water polo, synchro or rookie lifeguard. We
deliver stage 8 & 9 of all but rookie lifeguard. Stage 10 for all
disciplines is very difficult and therefore we do encourage children
to move to a specialist club before this point.
