The Sessions!
Introduction
The Sessions
ASA Swim Stages
With many of our classes, the teachers get into the water with the
children. We find this helps with a child’s confidence and also
means that we are close by to offer assurance. Parents, however must
remain on the poolside!
We operate adult & child sessions and duckling classes that work
towards the ASA duckling badge scheme. This introduces children to
the water early with assistance from parent. Parents can bring
children to adult & child sessions as soon as they've had their
jabs.
The age range in adult & child is baby to approx 3 1/2 yrs.
Children can go into the duckling classes at around 3 1/2 years
where the intention is to withdraw the parent so that the children
can get used to being in a structured class. This class is all about
developing confidence and learning how to follow instruction in
readiness for mainstream lessons. Children usually collect duckling
badges 1 - 4 during adult & child/ duckling lessons.
We accept children into mainstream lessons once they've started full
time school. They are expected to be able to receive instruction and
be able to do simple skills before commencing lessons ie; wash face
and hair, move around the shallow end with feet on pool bottom but
without falling over. If they're not yet at this stage, they would
need to join the duckling programme.
